Kundalini Yoga is a unique combination of postures, breathing, mantras and meditation that allows the body and mind to be taken to a different state of consciousness, relaxation and well being. Yogi Bhajan* brought these ancient yogic teachings to the west in 1968. The word Kundalini refers to a stream of energy located at the base of the spine. In Kundalini there is an emphasis on the meridians and energy channels of the body. Once the energy begins to flow more easily and imbalances are corrected amazing things start to happen. Many of the Kundalini positions and practices look deceptively easy, but the repetition of the postures can challenge us and give us a great work out physically, mentally and emotionally. Each class consists of a different kriya (a sequence of poses) that is designed for a specific purpose, such as opening the heart, fighting off illness, or nurturing creativity. Each class includes mantras and meditations that support the purpose of the kriya.
Anna has been practising yoga for more than 20 years. In late 2011 she experienced her first Kundalini class. It was love at first sight. She completed her teacher training in 2012. She teaches private and small group lessons in and around Adelaide. Her classes are a profound, healing and energising experience with a little jaunty silliness thrown in for fun. We don’t want to take ourselves too seriously do we? Having said that, in her heart of hearts she believes deeply in the transformative and miraculous power of yoga and meditation. She believes Kundalini is one of the fastest ways to uncover your innate power and bliss. It is for everyone and everyone can, with just a little bit of practice, reap epic benefits.
